Doctor Who Christmas Special 2012 alternate title: Sherlock Holmes and the Popato-head Strax.

So I have been a bit busy lately, and this is why.
I don’t know what hit me, but I felt a little bit “artsy-fartsy”. I got bored of my beige-colored walls so I decided to add on a little personal touch. And I’m glad my mom allowed me to do so.
I covered half of one of the walls in my bedroom with 4 huge black cardboard paper and put photos and quotes of of all the things that interest me. Basically, the photos I included are related to Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock, John Green, and reading. Most of them are works of people I follow here in Tumblr, and I have no intention at all of stealing their works, so credits to the brilliant people who made them. Others are my works, like the simple black and white quotes from my favorite songs or books.
So far, I have yet to print out more photos to add. I am still searching for good ones to include so I guess I’ll probably finish this “project” before this week ends. Right now, I can say that it’s 50% done. I feel very productive. Haha. Wish me luck! :D

Since classes won’t resume ‘til Monday, I think its only fitting to knock off at least two books from my to-read list.
So I decided to start with the book I wanted to read for so long: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Somehow, the thought of a future where books are banned and burned got me curious and terrified at the same time. Imagine a world of mindless TV chatters without the freedom of fiction and literature. I started reading it this Wednesday and I am halfway done. My reading’s kinda slow compared to usual since I am alternating it with movie breaks. I have to maximize this free time. After all, how many times can we have a week-long suspension of class?
When I’m done with Fahrenheit 451, I am also hoping to start and finish Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I’ve read the summary of the book and it instantly got my attention hooked. As I’ve said before, I have this thing for weird, intelligent, loner-types of protagonist. And since Christopher John Francis Boone is described as a 15-year old math genius who relates well to animals but not to human emotions, I did what I thought was right: grabbed the book and bought the copy. I am really looking forward to reading this since the main character is also a Sherlock fan (yay, me too!) and is set to investigate the death of their neighboring dog. So, wish me luck guys! :)

So I was looking for BBC Sherlock bloopers in YouTube when this came up.

Oh goddammit. I swear, I cannot look at Benedict Cumberbatch the same way again. He is so hot and oh, what I wouldn’t give to be one of those girls/boys. He’s a brilliant kisser! And just look at his eyes! I know it’s kinda inappropriate but this video just gave me feels all over, weird feels.

And the fact that there’s a Johnlock clip in here is awesome.

Plus Cumberbutt twice.

Watson In Love.

As promised, I started reading the first volume of Sherlock Holmes. The first in the collection is the A Study in Scarlet, the novel in which John Watson met Sherlock Holmes. If you have watched BBC Sherlock, you might already be shipping Johnlock or Cumberman. And if I am right, I suggest you read the books too.

Since the novels were written in John Watson’s POV, I can feel how much he adored Sherlock Holmes. I am just past the first 42 pages and I can already feel Watson’s deep attraction to Sherlock Holmes. If I hadn’t known better, I would say  that he’s plain gay and is completely and madly in love with Sherlock Holmes. The way he described Holmes’ quirks and powers of analytical deduction can be compared to a blind man seeing the light for the first time in his whole existence. And trust me, I am not in anyway exaggerating this. John Watson admired and somehow worships the ground Sherlock walks on. His curiosity of Sherlock’s whole personality is close to obsessive but not in a creepy way.

Plus, being a classic book, it was written in an old-fashioned way and I like it very much. I am a sucker for British literature and films especially Victorian-Era-related ones. And this book satisfies both category. And I am pretty sure I am going to enjoy this read.

Come, and do the happy dance with me!

As I’ve said before, I was only able to buy the second volume since I wasn’t able to find the first one. But today, I finally got the first volume of Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories!! Now, I can start reading it because I have both volumes and I don’t have to worry anymore. I am just so awfully happy right now.

I was out with my new roommate and we were in the mall to have the keys duplicated. And then, as always, I went for a little visit at the bookstore. I was actually supposed to buy some new notebooks since classes would start this Monday. But of course, like in any other bookstore, I wouldn’t pass the chance to check on the book section. And there it was! A whole new stack of the two volumes of Sherlock Holmes. Oh and I definitely picked it up and bought a copy. Good thing I brought extra money.

So now, I think I would have to stop reading my other books and try to finish these before school starts. And it’s a good time to read too. The weather is perfect, with all this rain. I could make a steaming mug of coffee and be cozy in bed while reading these.

Re-watching Sherlock Holmes I and II.

Gawd, Steven Moffat is killing me. How long should I wait before the next season start? Look at how desperate I am! I am watching the movie again even though it’s not Cumberbatch and Freeman. It’s just that I have watched BBC Sherlock seasons 1 and 2 three times already during this summer vacation. And even though I very much prefer the British Sherlock, RDJ is still played version quite well. I mean, his crazy humor is what makes the American Sherlock lovable.

So I guess what I’m saying here is that I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHEN THE NEXT SEASON FOR SHERLOCK WILL COME OUT. Dammit Moffat, why do you always keep us hanging? Oh I bet you enjoy watching go crazy don’t you? Please just give me more of that Sherlock/John love, will you? I am having some kind of a withdrawal here. And I am sure as hell am not alone in this.

Oh and please don’t mind BAFTA. They honestly don’t know what they’re doing not letting you guys win. Just look at Tumblr and see how many fans loves you.

Books I am planning to buy when I get my next paycheck.

Books I am planning to buy when I get my next paycheck.

So, I am almost done with my summer job and I am expecting to receive my next paycheck within this week. Aside from a new phone, being the bookaholic that I am, I surely am going to buy new books. Of course, I already have my list of books to purchase. And here they are:

  • Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks
  • Carrie by Stephen King
  • Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
  • Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories Volume I by Arthur Conan Doyle
  • Numbers by Rachel Ward
  • ASoIaF#2: A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin
  • A Million Suns by Beth Revis
  • Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
  • And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie
  • Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

You might think that this list way too long, but it’s not like I will actually buy them all in one go. I can never find these book easily so I’m guessing I might be able to buy only half of what’s listed above. So yeah, wish me luck.

A message from Anonymous
hello! Can you explain the difference between the 1st and 2nd volume of Sherlock Holmes? thank you!

Hi! Uhm, as many fans know, Doyle made several novels of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories is, sort of, a complete compilation of all his work. The books consist of 4 novels and 56 short stories. It has two volumes and the 1st contains the 2 novels, which are the “A Study in Scarlet” and “The Sign of Four”, and other short stories with different cases. The 2nd volume contains another 2, the “Hound of the Baskervilles” and “The Valley of Fear”, and also other short stories. Hope I helped. :)

Hello, my dear followers. Good evening!
Look what I got from the bookstore today! It’s Sherlock Holmes by none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
I wasn’t actually planning to buy a book right now since I’m still saving up for a good haul. But then I was too early for my summer job and I decided to pass by a bookstore first just to browse for any good book. And then I found this one. Sadly, it’s the second volume and no matter how much I searched, I cannot find the first. Nevertheless, I still bought it since I don’t really need to read Sherlock Holmes in a certain order.
I am curious about the novels since I have watched and fangirled over BBC Sherlock, so I want to know how different the book and show are. I know for a fact that the show was modernized and completely more futuristic with all the tech-y stuff. I guess I wanted to read how the original Sherlock worked his brilliance to solve the mysteries of Victorian England. I know that Sherlock Holmes is considered to be one of the best classics ever written.
I am not really a big fan of detective books but then the mystery, cleverness and plot twists I have watched on the show is enough to convince me that the book might also be a good read. Hopefully, I can find the other volumes so that I can enjoy the whole thing completely.

Gratitude is meaningless. It is only the expectation of further favours.
