I don’t know what people would say about me if they see this certain part of my book collection. I also don’t know whether people would believe me if I say that I am not intentionally choosing books with suicide as their main theme.
All I know is that I bought these books simply because I can somehow relate with their main character, one way or another. I just never realized that I already had so many. And yes, I had (or still have) dark thoughts running inside my head, self-harm issues, and suicidal tendencies. Maybe you’ll think I’m crazy or just pouring gas over the flames by buying books like these, but for me, I feel solace knowing that I am not alone in this.
If you’re interested in the books I have, here are their titles:
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Cut by Patricia McCormick
Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford
Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks
Cracked by K.M. Walton
I am currently reading Patricia McCormick’s cut and shamelessly enjoying it.

"We keep people alive on death row just so we can kill them later. We put prisoners on suicide watch so they can’t do themselves in before we can get the chance to put them on trial. That doesn’t make any sense. Why is it okay to put someone to death, but it’s not okay for those people to do it themselves?"

Currently reading: Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford
Now here’s a little quote I like from this book:
“How come someone always saves the people who try to kill themselves and then makes them tell everyone how sorry they are for ruining their evening? I keep feeling like everyone wants me to apologize for something. But I’m not going to. I don’t have anything to apologize for. They’re the ones who screwed everything up. Not me. I didn’t ask to be saved.”

Summer to-reads and rereads.

Well, hello there my dearest of friends! After what seemed to be an eternity of separation and waiting, we finally meet again. No more textbooks for me. Summer is for novels and fiction books. Pleasure reading at its finest. And I swear to you, my beloved books, this time I’m going to give you my utmost attention. It feel so good to have a pile of books by my bedside, knowing that I now have all the time I need to read. And for you anon, I can finally start making book reviews again.

So my goal for the 2-month long vacation is to at least finish these 20 books. I’m not the type to go out on beaches and parties during summer. I’d rather spend my hours on these. Some of them are rereads like Divergent and It’s Kind of a Funny Story. And for the others, my first. For the Percy Jackson series, I know that I should have read this way back, but then it was only recently bought a copy. I hope that I picked the right books with good plots. Wish me luck friends! :)

"And just because your life isn’t as awful as someone else’s, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck. You can’t compare how you feel to the way other people feel. It just doesn’t work. What might look like the perfect life—or even an okay life—to you might not be so okay for the person living it."

If only I am as lucky in my love life as I am in book hunting..

Went out to go to the mall because I have to buy some stuff I need at my dorm. Of course I chose the mall with my favorite bookstore, so I went to SM Mall of Asia. It didn’t even took me more than 15 minutes to buy the things I need. And then, I immediately head off to Fullybooked to look for any good book I can find.

Well, my luck paid off and I found three books that are in my to-buy list. I got another David Levithan book, The Lover’s Dictionary. It was the last stock available in that branch and one other guy was holding it. I was already getting very much envious because I really wanted this book. But then, as he was going around, he found another book and put The Lover’s Dictionary down. The moment he let go, I immediately picked it up and the guy saw me. He looked at me and gave this funny look. I just smile and said, “Thank you for putting this down!” And then he laughed. Who cares? At least I got the book. I also found Michael Thomas Ford’s Suicide Notes and Walton’s Cracked at the shelves. I grabbed them both and decided I have enough so I bought them all.

If only I was this lucky in finding that special person, then maybe I’d be happier. Haha. Oh well, at least I am very satisfied with my hoard today. Hope I can finally read these books. I want to have my vacation already so that I can have time!
