One simple precaution: If you don’t want to get “burned”, never engage me in an argument that begins with “The Twilight series are good movies/books..”

Because I swear, no matter what you do, you will never win.

“Oh Christ, you’re reading again. When will you ever put those books down? Go out of your room for a change, get a life.”

So mom went in my room a while ago and found me reading a book again. And yup, that’s what she said to me. Of course, I got irritated but I didn’t tell her what’s on my mind because I really don’t want to have an argument with her this early in the morning. 

But here’s what I would have said: Well you know what mom? This is my life. Don’t you get that? You cannot just pluck these books away from me like some trash you want to throw away. You should be grateful that I am like this. I don’t go on about wasting away with other bad habits like drinking or smoking or drugs. I am no social butterfly or any of those sorts, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a life. You’d say it’s the summer vacation and that I should go out and enjoy the sun but I won’t do that. Like you’ve said it’s vacation, the only time I get to read these kind of books and not those thick hardbound textbooks. My life may be around all these fictional worlds but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a real one. Trust me, if I want to go out and party with my friends, I can. And a fat lot that would cost you. But that’s just it. I DO NOT WANT TO. Reading is what makes me happy and you cannot change that. How else do you think I maintain my scholarship grant if I do not love reading so much. I wouldn’t have passed my subjects if I didn’t read extensively. Plus, I enjoy being at home, alone. I do not have to put up with other people’s business. I’d rather soak up in silence, reading books than to fake enjoy spending time with other people.

So mom, my answer to your question is never. I won’t ever put these books down and stop reading. It’s part of who I am and I don’t care if you or other people think it’s lame and boring. And trust me, it’s not a waste of my time.   

Book geek dilemma #10: During sale season: Having two voices in your head at the same time. One is forcing you not to enter the bookstore, while the other urges you to go in and buy books. Problem is, you don’t know which voice to listen to.

If you really want it over, why still talk and rant about it?

What would that do? You’ll just be stuck with that issue and will never get over it. More talk and rant equals more discussions, comments, backstabbing and arguments. It would be better if you just forget about it and try to move on. It’s very immature to ponder on the issue when it happened for a while already. Nothing will benefit you or the one you’re arguing with if the indirect online rants and insinuation would not stop. 

It really does suck when your friends start to turn on to each other and fight.

Come on guys. Seriously, are you going to let your friendship end? I know that I am not really a part of your circle of friends, but even the other guys in your group don’t want you to argue and fight. Here’s one thing to think about: When you’re older and much more mature, how would you react when you look back at this point of your life? Would you really think that it was worth it to let your friendship crumble just because of those reasons? Think guys. All those years in college that you spent together, in times of laughter and tears, would you let that end? 

Why butt into a conversation wherein you don’t have any idea how things work?!

I don’t know what you are getting at but I don’t see the point of you trying to argue with me regarding things you don’t even know. Why do you insist on opposing what I am saying and ranting about when you don’t understand the complexity of the situation?! Mind your own business, for fuck’s sake. Telling me that this minor subject is equally important as our major subject is really laughable. My concern is that the minor subject is giving us a lot of work when we already have a lot to study for our major subjects. And these major subjects are not something we can afford to neglect. These are the crucial subject we need for our future profession. So please, don’t you dare say that the additional loads of work from the minor subject won’t affect my majors if only I manage my time properly. Maybe that works for you but with us, studying a hundred plus muscles of the human body together with it’s origin, insertion, action and innervation for the moving practical exams is enough to take up half of our study time. Hell, it even eats up our time for sleep. We have different course so don’t try to compare them. It’s not easy for us. Shut your trap and mind your own fucking business. PLEASE.
