Bow down to me for I am the queen of secondhand-books-shopping!
Hahaha. Passed by Booksale at the Festival Mall branch yesterday before going back home from our cousin’s baptism. I thought to check in for just a bit and voila! Look what I found! I got the first edition of JK Rowling’s The Tales of Beedle the Bard Hardcover. And I bought for just, wait for it.. Php60 ($1.50). It was a really good buy. The book is in a very pristine state save for the cover that is a little bent around the edges. And to think that it’s original price is around Php900 ($22.50).It’s funny because it was strewn aside with a bunch of children’s book by another customer. I spotted and it and immediately asked the woman if she was going to buy it. Luckily, she doesn’t have an idea what book it was and said no.  Oh yes, I am in such bliss.
Okay, that’s it. Just sharing my happiness with you guys. :)

Pompous-Display-of-Christmas-Presents-I-Received-Tonight Master Post

I know that it seems a bit boastful in my part to show-off these stuff, but I am just so happy and thankful with everything that I received this Christmas time. I mean, I am not one who needs extravagant things. I am contented with just books or little trinkets. What’s important is that they came from people I care about. So here are the gifts I received as of 2am (yeah, some of my friends told me that they will give me their presents when classes resume on January):

  • 8 Books (The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, The Mother-Daughter Book Club & Much Ado About Anne by Heather Vogel Frederick, This Isn’t What It Looks Like by Pseudonymous Bosch, Classic Victorian and Edwardian Ghost Stories by Rex Collings, It’s A Mens World by Bebang Sy, Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler)
  • The-Fault-In-Our-Stars-inspired shirt (almost cried for joy over this)
  • Lancôme Make-up Palette
  • Wet ‘n’ Wild Lipstick (Metallic Pink)
  • 2 Nail Polish (Deep Purple & Pale Glitter)
  • Owl Necklace
  • Brown-Gray Suede Pumps
Again, I would like to give my utmost gratitude to my friends and relatives who gave me these awesome and breath-taking presents. You’ve made this Christmas extra special. I am just so delighted. I love you all! :)
Got these presents from my college and high school friends. I never thought I’d received this much. I was only expecting to get one which would be from our group’s Santa Baby but then, some of my friends surprised me by giving these to me on the last day of classes.
I am so excited to know what’s inside each of them, but there are still 3 days left before Christmas. Yes, I am one of those who still waits until Christmas time to open gifts. I don’t know but I just like the feel of anticipation and curiosity that builds up every time I receive gifts days or weeks before the actual festivity. I mean, I don’t really need extravagant gifts, just the thought of them remembering me enough to include me in their gift-giving list is enough. I am just so thankful for my friends.
Oh, and those rectangular-shaped ones, are they books? I hope so!! Hahaha. Please please please?

Okay. Someone just tried to go inside our dorm room a while ago. He was forcefully opening the door with his keys. I could hear the frustration as won’t open the lock and door wouldn’t budge. I thought it was just my roommate so I didn’t mind. Turns out, he got the wrong room. He’s supposed to be going into room 46 and ours was 36. Hahaha. Weird. It’s so early in the morning and that guy was already out of his head. I can still picture his face when I opened the door and told him that he’s in the wrong room. Crazy. :))

Currently Reading: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (Unabridged Edition)
I have finished K.L. Going’s Fat Kid Rules The World just recently and I’ll be making a review for it by tomorrow. This morning, I started reading the next book up in my reading list is this compiled edition of C.S. Lewis’ classic series, The Chronicles of Narnia.
What made this edition different is that the seven books are not chronologically arranged according to their publication date. Instead, there are presented according to Sir Lewis’ preferred order of reading. Here is how the books were organized (chronological position in the original series indicated):
The Magician’s Nephew (Book 6)
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Book 1)
The Horse and His Boy (Book 5)
Prince Caspian: The Return To Narnia (Book 2)
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Book 3)
The Silver Chair (Book 4)
The Last Battle (Book 7)
I have to admit that I haven’t read all the books in this series. Back when I was in highschool I only read the first 2 books. So now, I am hoping to finish all of them. It’s great that it is arranged this way so that the timeline does not have to jump back and forth. Right now, I am only at Chapter 5 of The Magician’s Nephew. This will be a long read, but I will make the reviews per book. Wish me luck!

Happy 49th Anniversary, Doctor Who!

I saw this circulating in Facebook this morning, but I wasn’t able to find the original post. So I apologize for not being able to properly give credit to the person who actually made it. Just to let you know what the post was all about, I took the liberty to post the picture:

As a great Doctor Who fan, I was very much willing to oblige. Before I went to school this morning, I drew the Doctor Who initials on my wrist using a blue highlighter and liquid eyeliner. I tried my very best to copy the “DW” logo and here was the result:

At school, only one guy noticed this and he was also the only other person in my class who watches Doctor Who. My friends even teased me for being the big “nerd girl” I am when I explain what this drawing meant. Some others gave weird glances at my wrist. Ha, like I care. Nonetheless, I was happy with what I did. Right now, it is still on my wrist and the more I see it there, the more I want to have a permanent tattoo like this. Oh, if only I can get one, I would.

So again, Happy 49th Anniversary to Doctor Who! I am expecting a lot more of those great episodes!

Look at what my friend, Abby, gave me as a post-birthday gift! It’s an official Harry Potter exhibition guide she bought from Singapore. It comes with the official replica of Harry’s Hogwarts acceptance letter. Apparently, she knew that I would totally be devastated and jealous if I knew that she went to the actual exhibit in Singapore. And she was right, I am immensely over-the-top jealous! But then she told me that the exhibit might go here in the Philippines anytime this year. So yeah, we made a pact to go together.Anyways, I really am enjoying this guide. Although I already knew half of the trivia found inside, it fells nice to reminisce my Potter journey. I really love how awesome my friend was for remembering me while she was in Singapore. She also bought a Slytherin necktie, which I am begging her to give me. But I guess it’s a little to much so I will be saving to get my own, and hopefully with the robes. Haha. I just wish it’s true that the exhibit would go here. I don’t have enough resources to get to London or to the Harry Potter theme park in Florida. But I swear, it’s the first place I’d go to once I already have a job.

I am supposed to be studying for Neurology and Pathology for our prelims tomorrow, but then I saw this and holy shit, I immediately closed my books. HAHAHAHA.
SLYTHERIN IS AWESOME!! I AM SO EXCITED!!

Took a break from book hoarding and bought awesome notebooks instead!

Even though my classes began a week ago, I haven’t been able to buy school supplies until now. I only had a yellow pad and one super dependable pen last week. So now, I realized that I cannot put off shopping for notebooks since we already had lectures and discussions on most of our subjects. And that is why I decided to go to the nearest bookstore and buy some.

As some of you may have already known, I have a penchant for blank and unruled notebooks. But then looking for this kind is not very easy. Of course there’s the ever present Moleskine diaries but it’s way too expensive for me to just use as lecture notebooks. So I searched for cheaper ones but with good paper quality. And I guess I’m lucky to find this lot:

  • Two blank notebooks with brilliantly designed foam cover (Black & Green)
  • Another smaller one with painted-denim cover (the gas masks reminds me of Doctor Who’s “Where’s my mummy?” quote)
  • And lastly a Slytherin covered hardbound notebook(my witchy heart cannot just resist the temptation) that comes with a pen (not included in the photo)

So yep, I can now enjoy note-taking in class lectures and discussions with all these amazing finds! I know that I may not be able to use them all, but who cares? I am so freaking happy!

Come, and do the happy dance with me!

As I’ve said before, I was only able to buy the second volume since I wasn’t able to find the first one. But today, I finally got the first volume of Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Novels and Stories!! Now, I can start reading it because I have both volumes and I don’t have to worry anymore. I am just so awfully happy right now.

I was out with my new roommate and we were in the mall to have the keys duplicated. And then, as always, I went for a little visit at the bookstore. I was actually supposed to buy some new notebooks since classes would start this Monday. But of course, like in any other bookstore, I wouldn’t pass the chance to check on the book section. And there it was! A whole new stack of the two volumes of Sherlock Holmes. Oh and I definitely picked it up and bought a copy. Good thing I brought extra money.

So now, I think I would have to stop reading my other books and try to finish these before school starts. And it’s a good time to read too. The weather is perfect, with all this rain. I could make a steaming mug of coffee and be cozy in bed while reading these.

Awesome-est friend ever.

Lalalalala. My happiness right now is inexplicable because of this book. It’s been so long, and I finally got my hands on it! I am just so freaking happy. You might say that I am overreacting but I really don’t care. I wanted to have this book (well it’s not actually a book) so bad for the last couple of years and I have been hunting for it in every bookstore I go to.

And all these feelings won’t exist if not for my very awesome friend, AJ. It was our enrollment today and she told me that she has a surprise for me. Of course, I wondered what it was because she is the type who never gives gifts or whatever for no special occasion. I thought it was just some souvenir or trinkets from the US since she spent her summer there.

Imagine my utter surprise when she handed this to me. I was so overwhelmed that I jumped and hugged her. Apparently, her family went to Barnes and Noble and there, she spotted this book. She told me that she remembered how I was so desperate to find one (she was always with me when I am searching for the book in every bookstore possible). And the astonishing thing was that she bought it. FOR ME. Free of charge.

You have to understand that this is a big deal because AJ doesn’t treat anyone even on her birthday. So I was really really thankful for what she did. She’s one of my closest friends in college but I never thought I would like her more that I already do. Seriously. Again, AJ Bird, thank you so much for this. I really am glad that I have a friend like you. You know me so well. I don’t know how to thank you enough. I love you, baby girl!

Please give me a moment to fully grasp how awesome and relaxing my next semester is going to be. NOT.
I mean, just look at that schedule! It sucks right? Well here’s what you should know: that’s actually the best possible schedule I can have as a 4th year student of BS Physical Therapy in UST. The other sections 7-hours-straight classes and 7am to 7pm classes for more than one day. I feel like I’m going to be so stressed this year.
You see, it’s not as easy to be a PT as what most people imagine. And again, we are not masseurs. Just look at our subjects! Especially that Clinical Education subject. What the hell are we supposed to do for 6 hours straight? But really though, those from the higher batch said that 4th year 1st semester is very challenging and brain-draining. And yes, it’s tough because we only have one year left before our year-long internship starts.
So I guess, hello bigger and darker eyebags and 2-3 hours sleep again. Not to mention, major stress. Haha. Not funny at all.

“In semi-related news, I am so, so, so excited to be able to reveal the new cover of Katherines in a couple weeks, which was designed by a nerdfighter.” —John Green

Got this one from John Green’s tumblr post.

OMG. That mean a new edition of An Abundance of Katherines will come out. Should I buy that one? I’m really excited to see this new cover. I mean, my copy of the book is a bit battered since I bought it from a second-hand bookstore. So I guess I can buy a new one, right? Plus the cover was made by a nerdfighter! Just how awesome is that! Damn, he/she must be really lucky for his work to be chosen. Oh my, I hope that edition would be available here in the Philippines. It would really suck if it won’t.
