Leche Flan for the New Year’s Eve Family Dinner.

Every year, our family together with my cousins’ families would get together during new year’s eve and have midnight dinner. Each of us would bring food to share and like always, I am in-charge of dessert. Since I already made Banana Nutella Graham Float last Christmas, I decided to make something different today. And here is the before and semi-after(I would still have to remove them from those pan and transfer them to another container) photos of my Leche Flan.

P.S. Those brown thingys beside the milk cans are not dog poop. They are chestnuts. Just so we can clear that out, for those asking. Haha.

Dinner and Stickers.

Once again, I would be alone in my dorm for whole weekend. My mom won’t let me commute this late due to the recent news about terrible killings and all that. She won’t be able to pick me up too, since she’s in her office. I could actually go home tomorrow morning because I don’t have classes every Monday. But then I thought otherwise since we would have a group meeting to make a leg cast this Monday morning and a make-up class in the afternoon.

And so here I am again, bumming like hell, alone. I bought some California and American Maki to cheer myself up a little bit. I’ve been craving for these for a week and so I thought to get some for dinner. Plus I also have this custard fruit mix from my mom. I guess watching Teen Wolf tonight will be awesome with these munchies. I could also keep up on my reading if I still have the energy.

Speaking of reading, my new friend, Emery gave me this cute sticker set. I’ve known her since my first year in college and the only time I got to know her was last sem. She’s really nice and sweet, although she would always tell me that she can feel in her heart that it is her duty to make me believe in a higher being once again. I admit, I am very uncomfortable with that, but otherwise, she’s funny and good to talk to. Anyways, she knows how much I adore reading books and remembered that she had these stickers. And so she gave it to me. They are so cute. It’s not much but I really appreciate the gesture. It’s not everyday that someone would give me anything for no reason at all. So I guess this is a good day for me. :)

You have been tagged! 5 random facts about yourself and then find 10 blogs and tag them!

So, I was tagged by Carl, one of the awesome people I follow here on Tumblr, to answer this tagging game. First of all, thank you for including me! :) My response won’t be as long as yours, but here goes:

1. I am a virgin. Most people think I am not, and they doubt me when I say that I am. I know that I am very vulgar and open to sex talks and all those green jokes, but that doesn’t mean that I already lost my big “V”. It’s just that I don’t feel uneasy discussing about sex, porn, and all that. I certainly believe that these topics are not to be ashamed of since it’s part of human nature.

2. I am allergic to shrimp. And I have to say that I feel so bad about this. I wasn’t allergic before. But then during second year highschool, I don’t know why, by the allergy triggered and I had these red rashes surrounding my lips and my throat felt itchy as hell when I ate shrimps one night at dinner. It suck because I use to love eating them and it is one of my favorite seafood. Now, I just can’t force myself to try one for I am afraid of the effects.

3. I am very scared of dogs. Like really panicking like crazy when I see one even from a distance. I guess it became a phobia of some sort. When I was a child, I had this incident wherein I was happily going around our street on a bike. That’s when our neighbor’s dog suddenly decided to chase me and succeeded as it was able to bite my leg. And that was not the worst part. The thing is, even when I am paddling away from it to get it off, it did not. Imagine it hanging on me, teeth sinking in my ankle. JEEEZ. :|

4. I am an atheist. I don’t believe in any god or religion. I’ve been like this ever since my senior year in highschool. For further explanation, just go backread my blog and search for the atheist tag.

5. I am a math geek. Aside from being a book addicted, I am also really good in Math. I know this doesn’t do anything to improve my social status, but what the heck. Love you quirks, they say. But ot only do I excell in Math, I also love the subject. Back in my gradeschool and highschool days, I was the school’s representative for individual and group interschool competitions. Yup, I was that insane. I don’t know but I really find it easy to understand complex formulas and manipulate them.

And now, I tag the coolest people I know here on Tumblr: Migs, Airiz, Roma, Paola, Clarence, Jeruel, Leystritt, Jen, Dane, and Lendl.

Farewell Breakfast
A while ago, my younger sister surprised me with this stuff for a supposed mini “breakfast in bed”. Now don’t look down on what she has prepared, for this toasted garlic bread and blended coffee might be the most difficult one she has ever done. You see, my sister is just 13 years old and she doesn’t have the slightest bit of cooking genes in her body. So I guess this really took much effort from her part. Oh, and don’t mind the Spongebob tumbler, my sister claims she likes to use this one, so yeah.
You might be wondering as to why the sudden gesture. Well, this morning was my “last” breakfast at home since I went back to my dorm this afternoon because my classes would resume tomorrow. My sister told me that she knows that I miss home-cooked meals the most during my stay at my dorm, that’s why she made it.
It was actually good and the coffee’s fine, but the funny part was that she made me this at 1:00pm. Yup, past noon time. Basically, it’s not breakfast anymore but she insists that she cannot really make me breakfast since I always wake up very late during the semestral break. Anyways, I thought it was a cute thing, though. We’re not really vocal about our relationship as siblings but I guess she will miss me for I rarely go home due to my busy schedule.

Cupcakes and Milk Tea.

Went to the launching of iPhone 5 at Smart Communications at Festival Mall last night. Now don’t get me wrong here, I swear to you I am not one of those rich snobs who flaunt their newest phones everywhere. I was just there because my mom works at Smart and I had nothing better to do. So yeah, the iPhone 5 was great and all that, but I didn’t really care much, since I am not a fan of Apple gadgets.

But here’s one thing that I really enjoyed during the said event: the free cupcakes. Each person attending the event was given one free Conti’s cupcake. There were so many flavors to choose from like Peanut Butter, Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet. I particularly enjoyed the red velvet ones. Oh and I dunno why but the guy from the booth gave me a whole box with 6 cupcakes inside. Haha. Lucky me! And that was after I ate one, so I took these cupcakes home. Oh there were only 5 left in the photo since my hungry sister ate the other blue one (Vanilla).

As for the milk tea, I have been craving for my favorite which is Simple Line’s Oolong Coffee Konjac Milk Tea, but then I would have to go to Manila just so I can buy. Good thing there was a new milk tea place at the nearest SM from our house. It’s called SmooTea Bubble Milk Tea and they have various flavors to choose from. Their milk teas are blended like smoothies, thus the name of the store. I tried the Taro flavored one and it was so delicious. Although I think I should skip the tapioca/pearls next time. They were quite bland and tasteless. I think I’m going to have a new addiction. I’ll try other flavors soon! Oh, and the cheapest one just costs Php40 and the largest one is Php60. So worth the price.

Uhm, sorry to burst your bubble, but actually, not all girls are as shallow as you.
You know what a better dream would be for girls?
It’s to be accepted by the society no matter how much food they eat or pounds they gain. Why should every girl be subjected to the pressure of being stick-thin? Why can’t other people understand the fact that there are different body types for every person? And why can’t we eat whatever hell we want without other people butting in? Ugh.

New-found favorite!
Shin Ramyeon noodles with egg!
This shit’s so good for cold rainy days. I have a thing for Korean food and spicy noodles, so this is just perfect! I don’t care that it’s just flour and mounds of MSG. It’s basically heaven for my taste buds! :)

Say hello to my study buddies.

Aside from my ever beloved Mr. Coffee, I also have Ms. Eggpie, Ms. Double Dutch, and Mr. Mamon. Hahahaha. I just cannot study without food beside me, so yeah. I do believe in the saying “You cannot think well and study on an empty stomach.”

I just need these comfort food tonight. I have to study for 3 quizzes and 2 recitations. And I have just finished my written report. Our class tomorrow starts at 7am, so good luck to me. BTW, I don’t care if these things make me fat. Want sooooooome?

Big day tomorrow, right?

Almost everyone’s busy, being all lovey-dovey and be like:

Well as for me, I’d be in my room, watching movies and be like this:

YUP. THIS IS MY VALENTINE’S ROUTINE. FOREVER ALONE, INDEED. :)) <///3

Food people cannot understand why I hate.

Let’s be honest here, everyone of us have that certain food we just cannot stand eating. And each of us have reasons for staying away from such munchies. As for me, it just so happens that the food I cringe away from are liked by most people I know. Here are some of them:

Shrimp and Lobsters

  • I have a valid excuse for staying away from these seafood. I am allergic to them and I get these angry red itchy blotches whenever I eat them. SO it’s a big no no for me.

 Strawberries

  • I’m not sure how to explain well my hatred of strawberries, but I just can’t stand it’s taste tangy, sour-sweet taste. Plus I hate the grainy texture in my mouth. I also hate anything strawberry-flavored.

Raisins

  • I just don’t like that pulpy feeling in my mouth. Plus, I don’t like grapes so a dried one won’t do either. And I also hate being fooled by raisin cookies. It sucks hoping for those bits to be chocolate chips and finding out that they’re raisins instead.

Marshmallows

  • I’ve never been a fan of these kiddy sweets. Like with other food I hate, I am not fond of it’s powdery texture in my mouth. The sticky-powdery feel makes me want to gag every time.

Peanut Butter

  • I don’t like nuts. Period. Oh and I also hate the feeling when it gets stuck at the roof of my mouth. Ugh.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

  • I know how much people love this. But like I said, it’s made peanut butter, and anything with peanut butter won’t get any thumbs up from me.

So now, you see why people don’t get me? They already think I am weird for being a book geek and a loner. They also think I am weird for not liking any of these. But that’s just it, these are my food preference. I don’t care if every person in this world love these food. I hate them and you can’t force me to eat them. It’s part of my many quirks. And I’m fine with it.

B for Badz.

And alas! I have my own leche flan for Media Noche later. Not because I am selfish or anything like that. It’s because I don’t like the caramelized sugar(arnibal) at the bottom, so my mom made me a separate one. And so as not to confuse it with the others, she put a huge B on the foil cover. Haha. I really want to eat it now.But I have to save it for later. YUM YUM. :>

NOMNOMNOMNOM.

A box of Oreos + 2 cans of Pringles + 2 packs of Hershey’s Kisses = AWESOME.

While everyone in our house have gone to our cousin’s house two blocks away, here I am with my munchies! I got them from my grandpa last night. He knows that I love these treats and I was so happy he bought them for me. And that teddy bear, oooh that cute teddy bear. I got it from one of my cousins. So now, I’m here, camping in my room since I got to skip mass a while ago. I pretended to be very much asleep because I really don’t go to church. It’s been like that for almost 2 years now. Anyways, I’m gonna watch Season 1 of Game of Thrones and later, I will get back to my reading. Wish me luck on resisting the fattening temptations of these goodies! :))

FOOD FOOD AND MORE FOOD!!

Yes, it’s a just a bit more than 3 hours before Christmas. And of course, as a Filipino, food Noche Buena must be present! My family have been preparing for almost the whole day because our cousins would be celebrating with us. So far, here are what we’ve made for the midnight feast:

  • 3 kilos of barbecue (sooooo much)
  • mounds of pancit palabok
  • Pesto and Carbonara (yes, we love pasta!)
  • Baked Mac (from my cousins)
  • Fried Chicken (ever present)
  • Buko Salad (this is my FAVORITE!!)
  • Choco Banana Graham Cake (courtesy of yours truly)
  • Crema de Fruta (‘cause we don’t settle for just two desserts)
  • Novellino plus some beer in can (oh you know..)

Haha, so this just means that anyone who’s dieting will have their regime ruined. And who cares if we gain a bit more weight? It’s Christmas, so it’s fine! Hahaha.

14 hours to go before Christmas.

Are you guys done with shopping for gift? Are you finished with wrapping all the presents? Well, I am. The only thing I’d be doing later is to help prepare for the Christmas dinner. I’ll be making Choco Banana Graham cake and will be assisting in making my mom’s killer Buko Salad. Oh and yeah, I don’t really know why I celebrate Christmas. I don’t even believe in the existence of the almighty one. Maybe because of tradition. Maybe because I grew up in a Catholic family. But really, the event doesn’t have any big significance or meaning to me. It’s funny how I get excited over it. I feel like a hypocrite.

Wallet: Maxed Out

So this was the last day of our exams and we finally had the time to chill and relax. And here’s a summary of what we did a while ago, in bullets:

  • Finished two practical tests with good scores.
  • Stayed at UST for a while to catch a glimpse of the Paskuhan fireworks.
  • Went to Distrito at Makati to splurge in good food.
  • Ate the best lasagna, burger, isaw, paella and mini macaroons.
  • Chill and walk around Ayala Triangle (awesome lights and decors)
  • Went to Coffee Bean and hang-out
  • Went to Central Bar and Grill and stayed for 30 mins then left.
  • Got back home at around 2am (I had to leave early since my parents would pick me up from my dorm early)

Yes, it is officially the start of our 2-week Christmas break. And at last, we can have the time to unwind, forget stress, catch up on our sleep and hope that these dark circles under my eyes would somehow diminish, even for a bit. And I’m excited for Christmas and the thought of presents. Yay!!
