I wasn’t planning to buy books last Sunday, but there is a sale at the mall I went to last Sunday. My agenda in going to the mall that day was to buy dorm necessities and whatnots. After buying them at the supermarket, I was supposed to go back to my dorm immediately. But then I passed by my favorite secondhand bookshop and saw that their items were on sale. So I did what any bookworm would do and let the temptation trample upon my weak self-restrain: I went inside to take a peek.
As always, I never go out of any bookstore empty-handed. And so these babies are what I took home. As a lover of fantasy genre, my eyes caught on Kage Baker’s The Anvil of the World. It’s basically a story of a former assassin trying to live new life but got caught in a tangle of problems as he joins a magical caravan. As for Nellie Hermann’s A Cure for Grief, I was a bit intrigued of the story. On the back cover, it says that the it is about sorrow and grief on the eyes of a 10-year old child as her family slowly break apart. I am a sucker for stories of tragedy and dysfunctional families, so of course, I bought it.
Oh, and you know what’s so great about this purchase? Well.. did I mention that I got this two books for a total price of Php75($1.67)? Ha. See? I really do love booksales. They are awesome.

Book geek dilemma #10: During sale season: Having two voices in your head at the same time. One is forcing you not to enter the bookstore, while the other urges you to go in and buy books. Problem is, you don’t know which voice to listen to.

Tonight, I willingly give in to this unavoidable temptation of lethargy.

Not yet done studying for tomorrow’s quiz.

I must read half of my book.

HALF THE BOOK FOR JUST ONE QUIZ.

But, my bed is eating me.

Like, so bad.. it’s the worst temptation.

It feels so good under my body.

MUST. GET. UP. NOW.

Before it can swallow me whole.

BUT MY BED IS SO COMFY RIGHT NOW.

I just can’t leave it.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP..

I tried to reach for the sun and touch it just to get a taste of its beauty and warmth. But then, all it ever did was burn my skin and leave scars to last a lifetime.
